Whole30 Week 2 + 3 Review

Quote of the Day: “It’s normal to not eat perfectly.” This quote says it all and pretty much sums up my weeks 2 and 3 on the Whole30 diet. I have for sure broken some rules on this thing, but you know, I still feel like I’m seeing some good results. The second week was a lot harder than week one. I mean, I didn’t have any serious cravings, but I did cheat. I learned that if I don’t have a plan of what I’ll be eating, then 1. I won’t be eating or 2. I will most likely cheat or 3. I will just…

Whole30 Week 1 Review

Quote of the Day: “Every time you eat is an opportunity to nourish your body.” So for the New Year, my goal is to get back into healthy eating. In 2020… and 2019, I kind of let myself go a little and ate a lot of ice cream and chocolate and although it was amazing, my clothes didn’t like it too much and my scale didn’t like it either. I decided that in 2021 I was going to attempt the Whole30 diet. The Whole30 diet is an elimination diet where you cut out dairy, grains, alcohol, legumes, and sugar for 30 days and then slowly…

What’s Your Hurdle Moment?

Quote of the Day: “Challenge is inevitable. Growth is optional.” I’ve spent a lot of time walking and driving around my neighborhood during this pandemic. Listening to music is great, but can sometimes get really repetitive… plus I can’t sing on my walks (well, I guess I could, but I would be that person singing out loud). I’ve found that listening to a podcast is a way better use of my time. Podcasts can be inspiring, motivating, and educational… if you choose the right ones. I recently came across a podcast called Hurdle with Emily Abbate. How did I come across this podcast? Well, I was out for a…

My Relationship with Food

Quote of the Day: “You can’t live a full life on an empty stomach.” A few weeks ago, I wrote about my relationship with exercise and my “fitness journey” or whatever you want to call it, so I thought it would be fitting to write about my relationship with food. Let’s just jump right into it. My Relationship with Food:  Looking back at just the past 5 years of my life, I’m realizing that my relationship with food has changed so much. I’ve literally been all over the “eating spectrum”, from restrictive, to healthy, to not giving two fricks. When I was a senior in high…

My Vegetarian Story

I’ve been wanting to share my vegetarian story for a while now, but never got around to it, but I finally thought that it was about time. Just to clear a few things up first, vegetarian is defined as someone who does not eat meat and vegan is someone who avoids all animal products as a whole. Glad we cleared all that up…now here’s my story. Growing up, I was the BIGGEST meat eater ever. I was that person who freaking brought steak in a bag to school for lunch. My personal favorite foods were carne asada tacos, pastrami sandwiches, steak, and lamb chops…mmm lamb…
